When does a DIY electrical fix cross the line into a long-term safety issue?

Hey everyone, I recently tried to fix a flickering light in my kitchen myself. I swapped out the old switch and tightened some loose wires, and it seems fine now, but I keep thinking about whether I should have left it to a professional. I’m especially worried about things like hidden wiring issues that could cause problems down the line or even a fire hazard. Has anyone here had a similar experience where a small DIY fix felt okay at first but later caused concerns?

I totally get what you’re feeling. A few years ago, I tried to replace a few outlets in my living room myself. Everything worked at first, but I noticed a faint buzzing sound a few weeks later. That’s when I decided to call in some Electricians in Whatcom County to double-check. Turns out, one of my connections was slightly loose, which could have been dangerous over time. It made me realize that even simple fixes can turn into bigger issues if you miss a detail.
